Artist's Comments

I see her in my dreams, and she's even more beautiful than my disappearing memories of her. I wake up, expecting her to be there, but my heart breaks as I realize she is just a dream. It's a brief moment of sadness...but I'm used to it. I stumble out of bed to my eisel, and begin painting my dream on canvas, before her face fades from my mind.

------

I've always wanted to do a classical piece that resembled the Masters from the Renaissance - Michelangelo, DaVinci, and Rafael. Their work is simply amazing to me, and even though I dabble in dark art a lot of the time, my true passion will always be colorful images of love, passion, and romance (it's just hard to do those when there is no love in your life :-P).

Like the masters who were experts in sculpture and painting...I think it's vital for an artist to try new things...even if you don't have the knowledge to make it happen on the first try. Use lots of colors. Explore different themes, subjects, and influences. Just love art for what it is, and not the recognition you receive from it.

Thanks to ~dysthought for an absolutely stunning stock photo: [link]

Also thank you to Temabina stock for some awesome textures, especially the painted ones.

Clouds from sxc and other awesome background textures from resurgere. (I prefer working with textures as opposed to brushes...they give you so much more power and originality)

Although I am almost always partial to work that does more with less color, but you did so much with a lot of color that I got'a respect this. Too bad it does not have that fully believable traditional feel, the digital influences are just too deeply saturated into the fabric of the piece, but for not painting it from scratch you got pretty close. Layout, and conceptual work, are clearly well thought out which is always refreshing and with the imaginative color palate it all comes together for a very pleasing image. Great model stock too, was a good choice. :nods:

In fact you did a good job on this and your other two pieces with our stock, I think I will fav this one as sort of a combined fav for the all hard work. This needs more then 10 views it has atm how. Keep it up.

"Sometimes I think it's a shame for people with so much beauty to have to die as if they can live forever.. But then again I think people of such immense beauty and understanding don't belong in a world like this."
:icondholms:
i have no idea what particular piece of resurgere stock you used, but it's so beautiful it almost makes me want to cry.
been in a bit of a self imposed reclusion the past week. i think people have actually hired private investigators to find me.
heh.
(though they could be debt collectors. lol.)
anyway,...
forced my eyes to focus long enough to log on and surf over to resurgere and saw that my little brother had faved this,...
of course i was in total shock at first,...para rarely allows himself to fave anything. i'm serious. ANYthing.
so when he does it's got to be something profound. and this is no exception.
it's magnificent man.
it's blended so perfectly seamless.
i especially love the bottom half where the form seems to disappear into the colors and textures. i love that.
hmmm.
i should go now.
reclusion calls.

beautiful work.
and thanks so much for allowing us to be a part of this.

gimme some sugar baby! 3 oz will do :D
:iconacida:
amazing. I loved this.

Beautiful work:!::thumbsup: ...A rare pro effort at blurring the lines between digital and tradtional painting skills.

....and kudos on your comments... We humans are crows at heart and color is our "shiny objects" we HAVE to pick up. Color is key. i learned that in the realworld endeavors long ago.. and have yet to apply those truths to my digital work.. so this is inspiring to me.

i have NO CHOICE but to fave it ( well...it's shiny... whadda ya want ? ) ...

Turn this into full sized prints for mass yuppy edification in middle america galleries thru-out the land.... and you may be single-handedly responsible for starting the first bonefide renaissance since the first one.

So glad you could make it...
